Subscriptions of £15 or over for 2 admission tickets and a car pass. One admission ticket per exhibi-tor for £5 or more of entry fees. To receive tickets, a stamped self-addressed envelope must be en-closed with entry.

To be judged 50% rider and turnout, 50% pony. The A E Alderson Garage Services Perpetual Chal-lenge Cup, kindly donated by P Alderson, will be held by the winner for one year.



CHILD‘S FIRST PONY OF PONY CLUB/ HUNTER TYPE

A Special Rosette will be presented for the highest placed member of the Zetland Hunt Branch of the Pony Club in each class in the Chil'‟s First Pony section. (Please indicate “ZHPC Member” on entry forms)
PLEASE NOTE: Ponies entered in the Show Hunter Pony Classes may NOT enter the Child‟s First Pony Classes. Each child and pony combination may only enter ONE Child‟s First Pony class. Po-nies must be four years and over
In classes 3, 4, & 5 competitors may be asked to include a small jump as part of their individual show.
Class H3 is a qualifier for the Lead Rein Final at the CHAPS (UK) Championship. Qualification will be awarded to the highest placed CHAPS (UK) Registered LR exhibit, owned and ridden by CHAPS (UK) showing members, which has not already qualified, from within class placings. CHAPS (UK) rules apply – see Coloured Horse Section.
H3. PONY 122CM AND UNDER most suitable as child's first pony, to be judged at least 50% on manners, to be ridden by a child born in or after 1999. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached by the noseband only.
H4. PONY 122CM AND UNDER most suitable as child's first pony, to be judged at least 50% on manners, to be ridden by a child born in or after 1995. To be shown in a snaffle bridle and NO LEAD REINS.
H5. PONY EXCEEDING 122CM AND UNDER 143CM (14-2HH) most suitable as child's first pony, to be judged at least 50% on manners, to be ridden by a child born in or after 1991. To be shown in a snaffle bridle, NO LEAD REINS.
CHAMPIONSHIP: 1ST and 2nd prizewinners from classes H3, H4 and H5, to be judged for the
J. D. Dowson Memorial Challenge Cup, to be held by the winner for one year.


FAMILY HORSE
H6 A) FAMILY HORSE OF RIDING CLUB HUNTER TYPE, EXCEEDING 143CM suitable to be ridden by any member of the family, to be shown in a snaffle bridle, to be judged at least 50% on manners and temperament. Rider any age. The judge will wish to ride entries herself as part of the judging process. The winner to hold a perpetual silver challenge trophy, for one year only. Ro-settes for all entries. All prizes for this class have been presented by Carrs Billington in association with BETA, in the form of vouchers, which may be exchanged at any BETA outlet.

B) EX RACERS CLUB RIDDEN CLASS. Open to any ex racehorse who has raced or been in training. Horses are judged on their condition, way of going and adaptation into their new career. Scars caused by racing are to be ignored. All entries must be registered with the Ex- Racers Club. Lifetime membership to the Ex-Racers Club is £10 and competitors must produce a copy of their Membership Certificate prior to the class. Horses will be ridden by the judge. Registration forms can be found at www.exracersclub.com  Horses placed first and second will qualify for the Ex-Racers Club Annual Show Champion of Champions Class. First placed horses will receive a keepsake tro-phy on behalf of the Rehabilitation of Racehorses organisation.

CHILDREN‘S RIDING CLASSES

Judging: not before 11am. will follow Show Hunter Pony Championship. Rosettes for all competi-tors

H7. LEAD REIN BEST RIDER, riders not to have attained 8th birthday before 1st January 2008. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached by the noseband only.

All Equitation classes will be judged on riding ability alone and competitors will NOT be required to jump, but may be required to ride without stirrups according to the judge‟s requirements.
H8. RIDERS NOT ATTAINED 11TH BIRTHDAY before 1st January 2008. Mare or Gelding 4 years old and over not exceeding 148cms.
H9. RIDERS 11 TO 15 YEARS on 1st January 2008. Mare or Gelding 4years old and over, any height.
H10. RIDERS 16 YEARS AND OVER on 1st January 2008. Mare or Gelding 4 years and over, any height.

CHAMPIONSHIP: 1ST and 2nd prizewinners from classes H7, H8, H9 and H10 to be judged for the A.E.Alderson Perpetual Trophy, to be held by the winner for one year only.


HANDY PONY CLASSES

Judging not before 11am. to follow Show Hunter Pony Championship. Rosettes for all competitors

To be Judged on time over a course of hazards and obstacles, failure to negotiate
any obstacle will invoke time penalties. Competitors in Handy Pony classes are
advised to come to the Handy Pony ring as soon as possible. Ponies must be four years and over.

H11. RIDER UNDER 8 YEARS on show day. Entrants may be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle, the lead rein to be attached by the noseband only. The Ellwood‘s Challenge Cup to be held by the winner for one year.
H12. RIDER 8 YEARS TO 11 YEARS on show day. Jumps 60cm maximum. The Ellwood‘s Challenge Cup to be held by the winner for one year.
H13. RIDER 12 YEARS TO 16 YEARS on show day. Jumps 75cm maximum. The Ellwood‘s Challenge Cup to be held by the winner for one year.


COLOURED HORSES

This show is affiliated to The Coloured Horse and Pony Society (UK). Both owner and the rider/exhibitor need not be a member of CHAPS(UK nor must the horse or pony be registered with Chaps (UK) to compete, but in order to qualify they must both be Showing Members and the horse/pony must be registered with the Society BEFORE this show for the qualification to be valid (except Ponies(UK) / BSPS qualifiers where Membership and Registration, if not al-ready in place, MUST be made within 14 days of qualification for qualification to be valid) See CHAPS Members Handbook or www.chapsuk.com for rulings.
All stallions entering these classes must be graded with CHAPS(UK). ID Cards must be car-ried in the ring for inspection. Foals born within current year are not eligible to compete in qualifying classes

The CHAPS(UK) Championship Show will be held on 29, 30, 31 August 2008. Shows held on or after date of Championship Show will count as 2009 Qualifiers. Members to apply in writ-ing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate qualifier card. Ponies (UK) Summer Championships will be held on 13 – 16 August 2008.

This Show is a qualifier for P(UK) Winter Cup, where qualification is open to Members and non-Members of P (UK).

CHAMPIONSHIP: 1st and 2nd prizewinners from classes 24 to 29 inclusive will be judged for the J. Hall Silver Challenge Cup to be held by the winner for one year. Champion and reserve to go on to the Mountain and Moorland Overall Championship


MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND PONIES

THESE CLASSES ARE ALL AFFILIATED TO P(UK) Winter championships 2009. The highest placed exhibit, not already qualified, within the first SIX places in each class will qual-ify. Open to Members and non-Members of P(UK). Qualification cards will be presented in the ring.

Dartmoor Pony Society rosettes will be presented to the highest placed registered Dartmoor in each class shown by a member of the Dartmoor Pony Society carrying a current membership card.

Exmoor Pony Society rosettes for the highest placed registered Exmoor in each class, shown by a current member of the Exmoor Pony Society.

The highest placed Welsh, New Forest, Connemara and Highland pony in each class will receive a show special rosette.

Classes 30, 31, 32 and 33 are restricted to registered Dartmoor, Exmoor, Welsh sections A and B ponies only. Registered names and numbers and breed MUST be given on the entry form. This show is affiliated to the Dartmoor Pony Society and the Exmoor Pony Society.

Classes 30 and 31 are qualifiers for the P(UK) Keston Royal Occasion M&M In-Hand Winter Championships 2009. Qualification is open to both members and non-members of P(UK)

Fell Pony Society special rosettes will be presented to best In-Hand and Best Ridden Fell Ponies, on production of a valid membership card in the ring.

H50. BEST FOAL OF MARE IN PREVIOUS CLASS likely to exceed 86cm at maturity.

STANDARD CHAMPIONSHIP: 1st and 2nd prizewinners from classes 49 - 54, to be judged for the championship. The winner to hold the Secretary‘s Challenge Goblet for one year

H55. MIDI SHETLAND MARE OR GELDING 4 YEARS AND OVER 34.5ins to 37.5ins in height to be shown in hand.

Class H56 is a qualifier for P(UK) Llanarth M&M Ridden Winter Championship 2009.
H56. STALLION MARE OR GELDING UNDER SADDLE, four years and over, to be shown off the lead rein, rider any age. Stallions may not be shown by a child under 11 years of age.
Class H57 is a qualifier for P(UK) Colne M&M Leading Rein Winter Championship 2009
H57. LEAD REIN MARE OR GELDING four years and over, riders not to have attained their 9th birthday before 1st January 2008. To be shown in a snaffle bridle, led by an attendant, lead rein to be attached to the noseband only. A trophy has been presented by Mr. P Robson to be held for one year by the youngest rider in this class. The winner will receive a society rosette.
H58. YOUNG HANDLER 15 YEARS AND UNDER To be run in accordance with Shetland Pony Studbook Society rules, mares and geldings only. All young handlers, must wear a current standard BSI approved hard hat properly fastened, at all times. A trophy has been presented by Mr. P Robson to be held for one year by the youngest competitor in this class
SPECIAL ROSETTE: 1st prizewinners from classes 44 and 50 to be judged for a special society rosette for best foal
SPECIAL ROSETTE: highest placed geldings in classes 46, 47, and 52-57 to be judged for a spe-cial society rosette.

CHAMPIONSHIP: champion and reserve champions from the miniature and standard champion-ships as well as the 1st and 2nd prizewinners of classes 55, 56 and 57 to be judged for the Paul Tranter & Co Challenge Cup, kindly presented by Mrs. J. McMurchie, to be held by the winner for one year. The champion and reserve will receive SPSB society rosettes. The Champion and Re-serve will go forward to the Mountain & Moorland Championship


MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND CHAMPIONSHIP


Judged not before 12.30 pm
For champion and reserve overall champions from the Dales, Mountain and Moorland, Fells and Shetlands. To be judged for the Jersey Farm Perpetual Challenge Trophy, presented by Messrs Watson, and to be held by the cham-pion, for one year only. The Championship will be judged by a panel made up of judges from each of the sections involved.

and are 2008 Area Qualifiers.
Open to members and non –members of the Veteran Horse Society, Members only will qualify for the 2008 Regional Championship, to follow these classes. Rosettes for all competitors. Qualifica-tion cards will ONLY be given to Members with their VHS Membership cards as proof of member-ship to the society.
Membership to the society must be received no later than 14 days prior to the Area Qualifier Show. LATE MEMBERSHIP WILL STRICTLY NOT BE ACCEPTED

COMPETITORS IN THIS SECTION MUST HAVE QUALIFIED AT A VHS AREA QUALI-FYING SHOW AND MUST HOLD A VALID REGIONAL CONFIRMATION QUALIFICA-TION CARD, WHICH MUST BE SHOWN ON ENTRY WITH THEIR CURRENT MEM-BERSHIP CARD/EQUINE SHOW CARD.

Competitors must display the age of their horse/pony on the bridle, ridden and in-hand. All Competi-tors must adhere to V.H.S. standard of turnout.

CHAMPIONSHIP: The winners from classes H65 – H70 will go forward to the championship to decide the Regional Champion.

The same competitor cannot go forward to the Championship as winner of both the in-hand and ridden classes. If this situation occurs, a choice must be made by the competitor between which sec-tion, in-hand or ridden, he/she will enter the championship. The second placed competitor in either the in-hand or ridden section not chosen by the winner will then qualify and go forward to the cham-pionship.

THE REGIONAL WINNERS WILL GO ON TO COMPETE AT THE VETERAN HORSE SOCIETY SHOWING SOCIETY SUPREME FINAL AT OLYMPIA IN DECEMBER.

Bowes Agricultural Society driving classes are affiliated to the British Driving Society, and are open to stallions, mares, or geldings 4 Years and over.

All Driving Classes EXCEPT THE MINI MARATON are qualifiers for the Veteran Horse Society Driving Championship held at Arena UK Summer Championships in August 2009. The highest placed animal aged 15 – 25 years will qualify. Open to members and non-members.

PRIVATE DRIVING CLASS (Traditional Vehicles)

Open to singles, pairs and multiples horses and ponies 4 years old and over driven to a tradi-tional vehicle (commercial vehicles, hackney show wagons, pneumatic tyres not allowed).

The winners of classes 81 and 82 will each hold a Lewington Trophy for one year.
Please note: The Fell Pony Society and the Dales Pony Society have presented rosettes for the best-driven pony registered to each society. Registered names and numbers MUST be included on the entry form. To qualify for Fell Pony performance rosettes exhibitors must produce a valid member-ship card in the ring. To claim Dales Pony performance rosettes the exhibitor must be or become a member of the Dales Pony Society.


SHOW DRIVE


Prizes: 1st £50; 2nd £30; 3rd £20; 4th £10; Rosettes to all competitors Entry Fee: £5.00
Please note: It is recommended that all persons riding on carriages in this class should wear appro-priate BSI approved safety helmets, properly fastened at all times.

H82. 10KM SHOW DRIVE / MINI-MARATHON over a stewarded, marked course, covering a range of terrain from roads and grass to fell, may include a water hazard. Followed by a short, timed obstacle course in the show ring on return to the show field. The Bowes Show Challenge Trophy to be held for one year by the winner. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This class is open to competitors 14 years and over, horses/ponies 4 years and over.

BDS Show Drive rosettes which are collected for the cumulative Red Rover Award are only awarded for a completed Show Drive. Turnouts must be inspected by the judge before going out on to the road.
