500metres Children’s Dash, 4k Fun Run, 10k Trail Race,
12k Junior Cycle Race, 12k Cycle Race
to be held on

Saturday 10th September 2011

1. 500metres Children’s Dash (under 8 yrs) Around a field adjacent to The Parks. Trophies for open/local, under 8/under5 boy/girl categories; certificates and prizes for all. Please meet at the Head Secretary’s marquee at 1.20pm
2. 4k Fun Run (8yrs – 16 yrs) Undulating course over tracks, trails and paths in the beautiful landscape of the Greta Valley. Trophies for open/local, under 12/under 17 boy/girl categories, most improved awards. Please meet at the Head Secretary’s marquee at 1.20pm
3. 10k Trail Race (16yrs and over) Undulating course over tracks, paths and a short section of moorland in the beautiful landscape surrounding Bowes and the Greta Valley. Trophies for winners and other prizes. Starts at 1.30pm.
4. 12k Junior Cycle Race (12yrs – 16yrs) Undulating course over tracks, paths and a short section of moorland in the beautiful landscape surrounding Bowes and the Greta Valley. Trophies for boy/girl winners and other prizes. Start 1.45pm.
5. 12k Cycle Race (17yrs and over) Undulating course over tracks, paths and a short section of moorland in the beautiful landscape surrounding Bowes and the Greta Valley. 1st Prize voucher kindly donated by Deepdale Off Road Centre; also trophies for male/female/ veteran) as well as many other prizes. Start 1.45pm.

Rules for all

1. All competitors must pay admission on to the show field
2. Entry forms are available on www.bowesshow.org.uk
3. Email or post your entry form by Wednesday the 7th September 2011 to Jackie Seddon (jfseddon2428@gmail.com or Howlugill Farmhouse, Gilmonby, Co Durham, DL12 9LU)
4. Entry fees to be paid at the Head Secretary's Marquee before 12.45pm on Show Day
5. 500m Children’s Dash, 4K Run and Junior Cycle race £1.00
6. 10k Trail Race and 12k Cycle Race £2.00
7. An additional charge of £1.00 for all entries made on Show Day
8. ALL ENTRIES CLOSE AT 12.45 PROMPT
9. Trophies are held for one year only and must be returned a fortnight before the 2012 Show

 Rules for runners

(To be listed at bottom of map of route and to be read out before each race)

1. A number of events are taking place simultaneously so please have consideration for other competitors.
2. Directions for each race will be indicated by signs and/or marshals.
3. Keep to the left and overtake on the right only.
4. Please do not deviate from the official route.
5. If at any time during the race you are unwell or wish to retire please stop and inform one of the marshals.
6. The meeting point for the 500 metres dash and 4k run is the Head Secretary’s marquee at 1.20
7. Competitors for the 10k Trail Race should make their way to the start point for a prompt 1.30 start

Rules for cyclists

As above and:

1. Safety approved cycling helmets must be worn.
2. All junior competitors must be either accompanied by a responsible adult or have the signed consent of their parent/guardian.
3. Competitors for the 12k Cycle Race and 12k Junior Cycle race should make their way to the start point for a prompt 1.45 start
